Last weekend I had the pleasure of spending the day at Royal Ascot with some pals. The weather was a bit dodge but other than that we had a great time. If you haven’t been before it’s definitely worth a visit. Even if you’ve never watched horse racing in your life (who has?) it’s the perfect excuse to day drink and you might even win a small fortune (unless you’re as useless at betting as me).
I don’t usually go in for the glamourous look but thought I should make a bit of an effort for her Maj. Fortunately, about a week before the event I spotted a cute navy wide-leg jumpsuit in ASOS’s petite section, I was seduced by it’s simple yet slightly bohemian detailing so I popped it into my basket without a moment’s hesitation. I didn’t leave myself much time to get a replacement though, so was counting on it fitting like a glove when it arrived.
A few days later it was judgement day. I tried it on with haste but much to my dismay the legs were too long and draped on the floor a bit- even when worn with my big chunky heels. I was still feeling the overall look though so when the day arrived I just soldiered on and hitched up the bottoms with my hands when any walking was involved. TBF all was okay once I was sat down comfortably with a nice glass of Prosecco- a cure for any ailment.
I went for a gold/tan theme when accessorising because I thought it sat well against the navy. I’m not usually a fan of things being too ‘matchy matchy’ but love my big wooden clogs and genuinely couldn’t find another reasonably priced fascinator that I liked.
